THE ARTWORK

Paper – Conqueror 300 g // 19 x 28 cm // Digital offset

“I very rarely have a precise idea of the finished artwork when I start to work on a collage. I rely on instinct and experimentations to find the hidden path that will open in front of me at some point. Accidents happen too. I work with old photographs that I scan in vintage magazines or that I find on the web.

I now have a big collection of pictures, and I usually randomly pick some and try to find associations until something tickles my mind. 2017 has been an exceptionally productive year for me. Creating pictures has become something that has literally been a lifesaver while going through difficult moments.

I have been inspired by love, sadness, grieving, male-female relationships, and this special artwork for Le Timbre can be considered to be part of this long series.”

THE ARTIST

Julien Pacaud is a French artist and illustrator, living and working in Paris, France. Before becoming an illustrator, he was, by turns: an astrophysicist, an international snooker player, a hypnotist and an Esperanto teacher. He hopes he can someday have enough free time to devote himself to his real passion: time travel.
