MILES AWAY

EDITION #04. October 2017

THE ARTWORK

Paper – Freelife Vellum White 220g // 21 x 29,7 cm // Signed and numbered Serigraphy

‘To be miles away’ is an expression that is used mostly in the UK. It means to be distracted, away from where the body indicates that one actually is. ‘To be on the moon’ would be a synonym, where the distracted subject is sent to more than 380.000 km away. After many years traveling to the moon and being spaced out, it’s time to pay tribute to the absent. Those no acclaimed magicians who have developed the extracorporeal ability that allows them to walk the Taman Negara without leaving the meeting at the agency. Or to travel through last night’s love scenes while working on the composition of this exclusive serigraphy to Le Timbre.

 THE ARTIST

Olga Capdevilla (Malla, 1986) is an illustrator, art director, and designer. She has a peculiar way to observe the world and an absurdly funny way of interpreting reality, playing freely with it through her art.

Her illustrations have simple lines but come loaded with meaning, life, and movement, in a clear prioritization of the concept over form. She comfortably works illustrating and animation, always with a touch of humor.

In 2015 she receives the National Award for Best Book for 101 Experiences of Daily Philosophy, by Roger Pol Droit (Blackie Books, 2015). She has also worked for brands and institutions such as TV3, Reebok, Moscow Club, La Iaia or Blanc Festival 2015.
